An Online Training in Motivational Interviewing Practices for Beginners (One and a half hours, via Zoom Online Link)
This is an incredible chance to gain knowledge about motivational interviewing practice!
Have you recently realised that a friend, client, or coworker needs to break an undesirable habit, practise a new skill, or simply change their existing behaviour? Ever wish a friend would change?
In all aspects of our daily lives, we routinely motivate ourselves to change an old habit or achieve a desirable goal. "Motivational Interviewing" is a communication style in which a guide helps people connect, and identify their skills, strengths, and goals to make informed decisions.
Motivational Interviewing is about working with people in a holistic way to address their non-medical needs and empower them to take charge of their health and well-being.
Motivational interviewers help clients find their own solutions because "motivation" suggests change. We practitioners do this by asking clients questions about their jobs, lives, and what could help them overcome their current situations.
What is Motivational Interviewing?
A collaborative conversation style strengthens a person's motivation and commitment to change and supports their autonomy to change. It encourages clients to come up with ideas to make a change.
It is intended to improve personal motivation and commitment to a certain goal by evoking the individual's own motivations for change in an accepting and compassionate environment. (Miller and Rollnick ,2013 p.29)
